Meet Brooke
Change has been defined as “to make…something…different from what it is or from what it would be if left alone.” Isn’t that a brilliant picture of what the truth of God’s Word does in the heart of the Believer? When our hearts intersect with the living and active Word of God we are not left the same.
Many of us long for this change. We know God’s Word is true. We believe the Gospel. We’ve put our faith in salvation through faith alone. But the surprises of life, those things that catch us off guard and turn us upside down, sometimes make it hard to keep the faith.
What does it look like to respond well to the surprises of life? Good, bad, or ugly, our response matters to God.
Surprises can be good:
- A new life
- Healing from sickness
- New love
- A Prodigal child come home
- A raise at work
- A child’s salvation
And surprises can be bad:
- Cancer
- Miscarriage
- Divorce
- Job loss
- Death
- A difficult child

A Little About Brooke
Brooke McGlothlin received her B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Tech (1999) and her Masters in Counseling from Liberty University (2003).
She’s a mom of two young boys who leave her desperate for God’s grace. Her pursuit of being a better mom has left her at the foot of the cross, knowing that if God doesn’t show up … nothing happens. This dependence upon God to turn hearts of stone to hearts of flesh leads her to her knees in prayer. She’s the author of the best-selling eBook Warrior Prayers: Praying the Word for Boys in the Areas They Need it Most, creator of the 21 Days of Prayer for Sons challenge and co-founder of the well-loved online community for mothers of boys, the M.O.B. Society. She offers hope for change to the hearts of women at her main blog, A Life in Need of Change.
Brooke currently resides in Virginia with her husband – the man she’s had a crush on since the 3rd grade – two sons, their beloved English Bulldog, Deacon, and two fish she doesn’t particularly care for named Thunder and Lightning. She enjoys playing hard with her boys, photography and ambassadoring Christ to you at her personal blog, A Life In Need of Change.
In the fall, she morphs into a slightly different person. Most Saturdays you can find her jumping around the room and screaming at the television as she watches her beloved Virginia Tech Hokies play football.
