From a Mother’s Heart

In honor of Mother’s Day I am featuring some of my favorite posts on the topic of parenting. “From a Mother’s Heart” is a compilation of the serious and the hilarious. I hope you enjoy your drive through this mother’s heart and are inspired to begin keeping track of your own thoughts and reflections on the joys and challenges of motherhood. You can find all of my posts about parenting by clicking the “shepherding” button below.

If God Doesn’t Show Up…

“Have you ever had one of those days when you’re filled with self-doubt and worry? One of those days when you’re trying desperately to balance circumstance with truth and circumstance is winning the day…”

Petting a Dead Mouse

“Earlier that week they had caught a mouse. It must have stayed in the trap for a few days before they found it because they found it by smell. My brother-n-law showed it to the kids and made sure they got a good look at it before putting it outside in a box with other trash…to be disposed of later…”

Diving Head-First

“There are times that I seriously struggle with my two children. Just being honest. But I’m thankful for those two little ones and all of the other painful, challenging things that come my way in life because they keep me diving head-first to the Cross. Right Where I Belong”

Stayed on Thee

“I’m sure my pastor had a wonderful sermon…but I honestly don’t really remember what he said…I think it was something about being a church that’s invested in its people…Regardless…I had one thing on my mind this morning…prayer.”

Big, Bad Wolf

‘”Hooooooowwwwwllll” goes daddy from the bathroom, his perch during this particular story time (and littlest nearly jumps out of the chair).”

A Year of Prayer

“One of the ways I’m practically walking out this priority in the new year is by creating a conglomeration of Scriptures to pray for my two little ones. And I’m committing to pray this prayer for them every day in the year 2010.”

Life

“Do you ever think about life as you’re looking at your children? Mine, like yours, are growing up fast. On two separate occasions in recent months I have been told to hold them close. With tears in their eyes, seasoned moms have told me how they yearn for those long goodnights, the endless questions, snuggling up close, and the sound of little people laughter (or even fighting) in their home. This is what I’ve gleaned from their stories…”

Little Blondes

“They have no idea how much I love them…They have no idea that their perfect little noses and big brown eyes are the most beautiful things in the world to me…and how I love to kiss them…”

A Lady in Waiting

“His little feet kick ferociously against his car seat…eyes closed…head shaking…screams piercing…little car…mommy driving…”WANT OUT!” Mommy struggles to keep it together…”
