Elijah Prayer Project

What is the Elijah Prayer Project?

Quite simply, The Elijah Prayer Project is a group of women committed to praying for their children's fathers.

We pray because we believe that one of the best ways we can fight for the hearts of our children is to pray for their fathers.

It's no secret...Fathers are of vital importance in the lives of their children. Statistics confirm over and over again that children who have a committed, loving and involved father in the home do better in the long run.

But there's a war going on in the home...and all too often the casualties are our men.

That's why we've decided to stand together as women who love the Lord for the men who need us...

And we believe the best thing we can do for them...is to pray.

Malachi 4:5-6 says, "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers…"

The heart of this effort is to undergird our children's fathers and cover them in prayer as they face a world that would tear them away from their families.

When and where do we meet?

Members of The Elijah Prayer Project will meet together each Thursday at A Life in Need of Change to share victories, prayer requests and encouragement from the Word of God.

Are there any rules?

Yes...in order to join The Elijah Prayer Project women must agree to the following terms:

1. This project is to be used only to lift up, not to tear down. I reserve the right to remove any inappropriate or discouraging comments.

2. This project is not an opportunity for gossip or badmouthing our children's fathers. If I see that you are being tempted to do this I will ask you ever so nicely once to stop. If you continue I will ask you ever so nicely to move on.

3. I reserve the right to change the rules as the Lord tells me to (I like being in charge!)

How do people join?

1. Most importantly, join by simply showing up at A Life in Need of Change every Thursday!

2. Grab my Elijah Prayer button near the upper right-hand corner of my blog and add it to your page so others can join too!

3. Use the Elijah Prayer hastag (#ElijahPrayer) on twitter to spread the word!

4. Elijah Prayer Project is very simply...a prayer project. At this point there are no fancy forums or gimmicks...just women who share a burden for their children's fathers lifting them up together, sharing prayer requests and encouragement for other women.

How does someone participate?

(Glad you asked...it's SOOOO easy!)

1. Share a Scripture verse or specific thing that you are praying for your children's father.

2. Request prayer for something specific (but be nice...this isn't a time to gossip or bash).

3. Write out a prayer for the request of the person who commented before you.

4. Share any victories as you've committed to praying for this man!

That's it...really!

So I'll start for today.

Last week my man asked me to pray that he would have patience with our little boys (they can suck the life out of us...I mean that in the most loving way...). So today I'm praying Ephesians 4:1-2 for him...

"Lord, please help my husband walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which he has been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with our children in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace."

(See how I inserted his name and pronouns in order to make it very personal? Feel free to do that yourself.)

My prayer request for him (per his request) is that God will give him the strength to walk in integrity this week.

Ok...now it's your turn! Let's pray for each other!

Oh, and feel free to go ahead and subscribe so you stay in the know!

2 Corinthians 7:1 - Since we have these promises, dear friends, may Mike purify himself from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

I ask for prayer for Mike's mind - that he will think on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.

Father, I pray that as Cory goes through his day that you will give him much love for his boys. As he cares for them, disciplines them, teaches them, and prays over them I pray that he will do so in love and with the goal of glorifying you. I ask that you will keep him safe in the field and bring him home to his beautiful family each day. Thank you for his dedication to serving as a state trooper. May he be an example of godliness to his co-workers.
